Francis Fernandes is an Indian International midfielder who plays for FC Pune City. Born in Bogmalo, a lethargic village in Goa, he started playing for Vasco and progressed to the senior ranks. In 2006, he was bought by Salgaocar FC, which was a career defining move. In eight seasons, he helped them to some memorable victories and became a talismanic figure there. Primarily a right winger, Fernandes can play across the attacking third as a left winger or behind the striker, where he regularly lines up for the Indian National team. He has supplied many goals to striker Sunil Chhetri from the hole behind him. He has a knack for launching into rampaging runs down his flank and beating defenders. His constant trickery and direct running make him a menace for opposition defenders. We’re anticipating some more magic from Francis as he gears up for an exciting season ahead.
