Apoula Edima Edel Bete is an Armenian goalkeeper currently plying his trade for FC Pune City. Born in Cameroon, Edel moved to Armenia is 2002 and signed with Pyunik FC in March 2003. After leaving Pyunik FC, he joined Rapid Bucuresti in 2005. After being released by Rapid Bucuresti in 2007, he was snapped up by French club Paris Saint Germain (PSG) on a Bosman transfer. After featuring sparingly in his first season in Paris, incoming coach Anthony Kombouare gave him a significant run in the first team, after first choice stopper Gregory Coupet suffered a serious injury. After his stint in PSG, he joined Israeli side Hapoel Tel Aviv, replacing outgoing keeper Vincent Enyeama. In the inaugural season of the Indian Super League (ISL), he kept the posts for eventual champions Atletico de Kolkata, where he became a local hero by turning in a commanding performance in the final which included a string of impressive saves. He had the best save percentage record with 86.3% and was a standout performer for ISL 2015 champions Chennaiyin FC as well. A two time ISL winner, we’re sure he will play a big role in our title push this year.
