Pune scored four goals in second half, defeat Delhi by 4-3

Superb game of football was played between FC Pune City vs Delhi Dynamos FC and it was raining goals in there as total seven goals were scored in today’s match and six of them came in the second half. Both the teams were in the mood of playing offensive and they did exactly the same throughout the match.  Pune was always building pressure on Delhi and started the game on front foot. They made pretty god chances in the starting minutes of game but failed to capitalise on that.

Delhi took their time to build the momentum and started giving reply to Pune’s offence by their counter attacks. It was in 25th minute of the game when Pune got their first big chance of the game as they were awarded spot kick by the referee. Lalchhawnkima brought Anibal Zurdo Rodriguez down in the box and conceded a penalty. Sissoko stepped up to take it for the home side but Soram Poirei guesses right to deny FC Pune City’s skipper from the spot. Mohamed Sissoko looked to place the ball into the bottom right corner but Soram Poirei dived to the right direction and made a brilliant save to deny Pune from taking the lead. It was an eye opener for Delhi and they collected themselves and started making pressure on Stallions.

Delhi finally broke the deadlock in 44th minute of the game and Kean Lewis was the man to gave 1-0 lead to the visiting side. It all started with a superb back heel from Marcelo. It gave Emerson all the time on the right to send the ball into the area. He looked up and sent the ball into the middle for Kean Lewis who sent it past the keeper into the back of the net. Delhi went back with 1-0 lead in the first half but the Stallions were not in the mood to sit silently. During the half-time conversation with Hrithik Roshan, who is the co-owner of FC Pune City, he said that Pune is one team which have the character to turn things around, and we witnessed this in the second half of the game.

Pune were furious when they came out in later half of the game. They were aware that nothing less than a win will keep their hopes alive for the knock out round. Anibal Rodriguez stepped up for his team and scored an equaliser for home side in 55th minute. FC Pune City won the free kick on the right. Jonatan Lucca took it and delivered a superb cross into the box. Anibal Zurdo Rodriguez attacked it and met it with his head, beats the keeper towards his left and founds the back of the net. Pune were back into the business with this goal but it was not enough. Few minutes after the equaliser, Pune scored their second of the night and this time it was Sissoko who netted the ball in.

Pune capitalised on their lead just a minute after their second goal and it was again Anibal who made it 3-1 in 63rd minute of the game. Delhi was left stunned and were reaction-less but they never gave up the hope to make a comeback in the game. An own goal by Eduardo Ferreira in dying minutes brought Delhi back into the game but a goal by Lenny Rodrigues in 90th minute, restored the two goals lead of Pune and it seemed like it will be last of the game, but Delhi was not ready to give up and Malsawmzuala pulls one back for Delhi in 91stminute and made it 4-3. It was a nail-biter till the final whistle and Delhi somehow lost the game even after chasing Pune many a time. Pune finally bagged three points in the end and climbed to fourth position on points table. Despite a loss, Delhi is still the table toppers.
