Indian Super League club FC Pune City have already started plotting their plans to win the 2017 edition of the ISL, announcing their first foreign acquisition of the season in the form of Uruguayan Emiliano Alfaro. He plies his trade as a striker and has previously played for prestigious clubs in Italy, UAE and also has experience playing in the Indian Super League with North East United FC last season. He scored 5 goals in his 13 appearances with the Guwahati-based club during the previous edition.
FC Pune City CEO was delighted with the signing, stating in a press release, "Alfaro is a forward with a penchant for finding back of the net. He is adept at leading line of attack for the team and his game awareness is something that we were very impressed with. I wish him all the best for his new stint and welcome him to FC Pune City.”
Head coach Antonio Habas was similarly upbeat with the signing, saying, "Alfaro is a complete player who we feel is right suited the style of football which we at FC Pune City likes to play, i.e. attacking brand. He is very smart in making attacking moves and is also solid in defence when needed and am sure that’s going to be an asset to the team."
Alfaro was also over the moon after signing for the Pune-based franchise. "It was a good season in ISL last year and its time for me to find a new challenge. FC Pune City has good plans in place and I hope my stint with them is fruitful and I can make an indelible impression on the fans, especially the Orange Army."
The acquisition of Alfaro will add a cutting edge to Pune's strike force in the upcoming season with the club looking towards launching a serious assault to win their first Indian Super League title.
